I take a holistic approach to drama and my health and fitness are essential to my overall performance. I practice yoga weekly in order to maintain physical strength and flexibility, along with mindfulness and meditation. In addition, I enjoy pole sport and dance, along with acrobatic training and aerial yoga. I find these activities extremely beneficial for keeping in touch with my physicality which is particularly important due to my interest in physical theatre and movement. I am an ethically conscious eater and am committed to upholding a healthy and sustainable diet in order to provide my body with the best fuel for moving and creating.
Performing and keeping focused requires mental strength and I believe that it is essential to find tools to keep your mind healthy. I achieve this through mindfulness meditation and origami art therapy.
There have been several recent unfortunate passings in the film industry due to mental health issues such as Heath Ledger and Robin Williams. The destigmatisation of mental illness is an issue that is close to my heart and one that I hope to bring attention to in both my personal and professional life. Although I have no formal training, I love to sketch. I find being creative and art in general a great way to release stress and relax mentally.
International travel challenges me and introduces me to new and exciting adventures. I am an avid scuba diver and skier and enjoy drawing artistic inspiration from the natural wonders of different dive spots and mountain slopes from around the world. I was lucky to see the Great Barrier reef from both above and below, taking part in a scuba dive and a helicopter tour. The sensations and adrenaline rushes from these experiences are excellent memories to draw upon when working on different roles and productions.
My personal style is a huge part of who I am as both an individual and a performer. I love expressing my character in what I wear and I have a passion for collecting luxury shoes and bags.
As a young girl Lady Gaga was my icon for expression through fashion and I was constantly fascinated by her ability to transform herself through clothing. Do you remember the ‘meat’ dress? I haven’t gone that far yet but I do like to express myself when the opportunity arises! Being able to transform, adapt and emote through clothing is essential in producing visually stimulating pieces. I also use fashion to help me build a character, I find that if I am dressed how my character would dress I'm able to hold my self more like them.
I have enjoyed photography for as long as I can recall, both as a hobby and an art. I feel that working on my photography skills will ultimately lead me to be a better actress, and perhaps one day allow me to step behind the camera and direct. Several female photographers, such as Dorothea Lang, have inspired me in their activist and often experimental documentary and photojournalism work. I will be working on my photography in the future and hope to one day be able to tell such compelling tales using only images.
